First Visit to the Orthodontist
Anyone can book directly with an Orthodontist – you don’t need a referral. Your dentist can also provide you with a referral.
What happens at my first visit?
Your orthodontist will listen to your concerns and undertake a detailed clinical examination. If you already have an appointment arranged but have not received any forms, please complete our Orthodontics Exclusively New Patient Questionnaire. Orthodontic records may be taken to assist in the clinical examination or for analysing/planning the course of orthodontic care necessary.

What are diagnostic records?

Diagnostic records include photographs, X-rays and models made of the teeth. Facial photographs are used to assess and record facial proportions, aesthetics, and smile balance. The X-rays are used to screen for problems, assess relationships of teeth and bones, and plan treatment. The models of the teeth are used to assess how the teeth relate to each other and record the original problem. Full records enable your orthodontist to develop your optimal and individualised plan, to maximise facial and dental aesthetics, function, and dental health.
